What is Assistive Technology?
Assistive Technology (AT) is a way to make it easier or possible to do the things that are important. This will also improve the ability of people with disabilities and older adults to be full participants in everyday life. AT devices can be as simple as a built-up handle on a pencil or as complex as custom computer hardware and software. Additionally, these AT tools can help you use your phone, unlock your door, operate your computer, or type faster.
AT services include helping to determine which techniques or devices best fit your needs. Training and support can be provided to ensure the proper use of the recommended methods and equipment. Moreover, our process can determine how to help integrate AT into a home, classroom, or job.
Anyone that cannot meet their goals due to a physical, sensory, or cognitive disability or the changes due to aging is a candidate for Assistive Technology. Additionally, AT can help in many areas of everyday life including computer access, computer training, work site modifications, environmental control, and more.
We can provide a complete evaluation, recommendations, training and support, ordering and installation services for all types of needs. Assistive Technology evaluations are completed at the WellWise Services office, personal residence, office, or school. There may be fees for AT services, but can often be covered by insurance. Work with us to help you find available funding sources so you may live a better life.

Do you need help with your computer, phone, tablet, or other technology? Our technology team is holding monthly drop-in sessions to provide one-on-one support to help your with technology issues.
Whether it is downloading an app, connecting a printer, or understanding new features, bring in your device and let us help!
We offer a short presentation on a tech-related topic then address individual issues. These free sessions are first come, first served.

AT Demonstrations for Individuals
Free AT demonstrations are available for qualified individuals for everyday living including devices for cooking, bathing, grooming, dressing and other daily activities. The purpose of a device demonstration is to help people compare the benefits of the available devices. This will help in making an informed decision about which AT to use.
