WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging has a variety of opportunities for you to use your skills to help seniors and people with disabilities in Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee Counties.

We need YOU to help seniors who are victims of abuse and neglect!
We are looking to partner with local families or individuals willing to volunteer their homes as temporary safe havens for seniors in a situation of abuse and neglect. We are also looking for individuals that can serve as peer supports to program participants. The goal of this initiative is to develop a temporary emergency housing program to improve elder abuse prevention efforts in the Jackson area. This opportunity has been made possible by the Aging and Adult Services Agency.

MMAP Volunteers (Michigan Medicare/Medicaid Assistance Program)
Volunteers would assist Medicare Beneficiaries understand their options with Medicare and Medicaid. This help would include prescription drug coverage, medigap plans and Medicare advantage plans.
Volunteers would also help Medicare beneficiaries learn how to read Medicare statements, how to protect their Medicare number, how to prevent fraud and abuse.
Complete training is provided on Medicare and Medicaid to those who decide to volunteer.

Volunteer to be a class coach or lay leader
WellWise Services facilitates a variety of programs throughout our three county service area of Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee which help participants manage concerns about falling and another to help manage their diabetes and live healthier lifestyles.
Are you comfortable with public speaking to groups of 15-20? Are you available to lead class sessions once a week for 2 – 2 ½ hours for 6 – 8 weeks?
When leading classes coaches and lay leaders are provided a curriculum to follow.
Become a Matter of Balance Coach:
This requires completion of a free two day training in order to become a class coach
Become a Diabetes PATH lay leader:
This requires completion of a free 4 day training to become a class lay leader
