WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging CEO Announces Retirement

WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging is announcing the retirement of Chief Executive Officer
Julie Wetherby, effective April 30, 2025. Wetherby has decided to step down from the role after over
17 years of dedicated service, including 10 years as Chief Executive Officer, having made significant
contributions to the Agency’s growth and mission to improve the lives of older adults, individuals with
disabilities, and their caregivers in Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties.
“I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to be part of this incredible organization and to contribute to
its important work in the community, the State of Michigan, and beyond. I am confident that WellWise
Services Area Agency on Aging will continue to thrive, and I look forward to assisting with a smooth
transition,” said Wetherby.
Wetherby has served as the President of the Area Agencies on Aging Association of Michigan, served
on various non-profit boards, and advocated for the needs of older adults, adults with disabilities, and
their caregivers both in Michigan and nationally in addition to her role as CEO. She has worked
tirelessly throughout her career to ensure that the voices of these populations are heard, and their needs
are met through policy, service delivery, and community engagement.
Wetherby highlighted the agency’s success in expanding its capacity to serve the community and fulfill
its mission noting that WellWise Services has experienced significant growth in its ability to deliver
vital services to those in need during her tenure. The leadership of WellWise Services remains
confident in the agency’s continued success and its ability to uphold its commitments to the people it
serves.
“It has been a privilege to work alongside such a dedicated team,” Wetherby added. “The
accomplishments we’ve achieved together are a testament to the hard work, passion, and commitment
of the entire WellWise Services staff. I am truly proud of what we have accomplished.”
WellWise Services is committed to ensuring that the CEO transition is as smooth as possible for both
the staff and the communities it serves. The Board of Directors will continue to support the Agency’s
mission and strategic goals. WellWise Services Area Agency on Aging is a nonprofit organization
dedicated to improving the quality of life for older adults and individuals with disabilities and their
caregivers. The agency provides a wide range of services designed to enhance independence and
support community-based living in Hillsdale, Jackson, and Lenawee Counties in the State of Michigan.
